My Top 3 Reading Nooks
Reading nooks are a cool topic among readers. There are so many variations because readers have all kinds of backgrounds and tastes. Some have just one favorite place. Others, like me, have several, depending on their mood for the day.
Whether it is in your favorite comfy chair, the bed, or beside the fireplace, do feel free to share your reading nook(s) with me.
Here are my favorite 3!
The Reading Fort
Building forts is always fun and a favorite pastime for me. It can be an outside fort, a tree house or even the indoor blanket fort. Building it is part of the fun and then having a secure place to read is fun too. Having flashlights or lanterns in the fort when it’s dark adds a fun spin on this favorite! Adding a light like this can be fun too if you want to get fancy.
In the Woods
It’s mostly quiet in the woods except for the serenade of the birds, insects, frogs, and the occasional squirrel. Find a tree to sit in or under, some really peaceful looking place or even beside a creek! If you do go in the woods and take your ereader, do keep a firm grip on it if you sit up in a tree. If you go by a creek you may want to hold off on bringing drinks and make certain you use the bathroom if the sounds of running water have that kind of effect of on you…
However, this isn’t a good place during the summer months in Georgia where I live. Not only it is really hot and humid, the mosquitoes will carry you off and eat you alive. Ugh. It’s hard to enjoy reading while swatting at the pesky little bloodsuckers!
By the Fireplace or a Campfire
Maybe I am also a bit of a pyromaniac. Fire is relaxing for me as I watch it and feel its warmth. The glow it provides also provides for me the ideal environment for reading. Whether I am at camp in a chair or on the ground or at home sitting on the hearth or in a comfy chair with my feet propped up, this is another ideal place, especially during the winter. It’s awfully cold to sit by a creek during the winter. There’s no colder place than to be on or by water on a cold day. Brr.
The beach was a close contender, but when I do go to the beach I enjoy swimming or gathering sea shells too much to want to read, so I left that one off.
I hope enjoyed about learning where I may enjoy reading (and writing). Do feel free to share yours!
